Familal hypercholesterolaemia without secrets

Coalition Heart for Cardiology together with the Polish Mother’s Memorial Hospital-Research Institute are inviting you to the workshop “FAMILIAL HYPERLYEROLEMIA WITHOUT SECRETS”.

The Polish Union of Patients together with cardiological patients organizations – the Association of Patients with Heart Diseases and Cardiovascular System, the Patients Association of Familial Hyperlipidemia and the Foundation Win Your Health – has established the Coalition “Heart for cardiology”.

The coalition is a bottom-up action of patients who organize workshops and preventive examinations campaigns throughout Poland. In Lodz, together with PMMH-RI, they are preparing an event on familial hypercholesterolemia.

On Tuesday, June 25, 2019, between 15-17 in the main PMMH’s building (Rzgowska 281/289), workshops will be held by experts. Participation is free, but interested parties are asked to register. Applications by 25 June at 22 428 36 31 or by email: info@puop.pl.

Familial Hypercholesterolaemia (FH) is a genetically conditioned disease that causes accelerated atherosclerosis and early onset of cardiovascular events. It develops asymptomatically. At the root of this disease lies a genetic defect that causes a significant increase in the level of “bad” LDL cholesterol. Consequently, high concentrations of the LDL-C fraction leads to premature atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction or ischemic stroke. Mortality from vascular and cardiac causes in young people between 20 and 39 affected by this disease is one hundred times higher than in the population.

Over 150,000 people are estimated to be affected by this disease in Poland.
