The Polish Mother’s Memorial Hospital and the Museum of Cinematography in Łódź are organizing an unusual educational project “Polish point of view – film painterly” which introduces the knowledge of the most important Polish film achievements inspired by paintings.
This Thursday at 13.30 (on the eve of Andrzejki) a meeting devoted to Vincent Van Gogh will be held in the hall of the gynecology and obstetrics hospital. First, a film expert Dr. Maciej Dowgiel will introduce the famous painter and introduce you to the history of the film. After the lecture, the Oscar-nominated picture entitled “Your Vincent.” will be shown.
This is a story about the last days of Vincent van Gogh. The investigation related to his mysterious death is conducted by Armando, son of a painter’s close friend. Through conversations with people who knew the artist, he gets to know him as a man and artist. The viewer’s attention is attracted by an extremely expressive visual form. The animation took 7 years. The film was originally shot in the actor’s version, and later each frame was painted in oil. Among them are nearly 130 authentic van Gogh paintings, Starry night on the Rhone, Sunflowers and Terrace at night, among them.
Admission to the meeting is free. The project is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund and the City of Łódź.
