Professor Maciej Banach, the President of the Polish Mother’s Memorial Hospital – Research Institute received an Honoris Causa Doctorate from the Paweł Józef Šafárik University in Košice.
“It was a really beautiful celebration,” he says. – I reckon that such celebrations, related to the awarding of academic titles, should always be carried out in accordance with academic traditions. Thank you all again for, as I emphasized in my lecture, it is also an award for my teams from PMMH-RI, Polish Lipid Society, Lipid and Blood Pressure Meta-Analysis Collaboration Group, ilep.eu, Medical University of Lodz and University of Zielona Góra.
Professor Maciej Banach is a laureate of many other awards and distinctions, including: Manager of the Year 2016 of public entities operating in healthcare (2017), Innovator of the Year from the Wprost weekly, the “Golden Scalpel” Award in 2016 for innovations, Personality of the Year 2013 in Poland for the development of science in health care – funded by the Menedżer Zdrowia magazine (Termedia publishing house), Super-Talent in Medicine award 2012 – a competition for young scientists in the field of medicine (up to 40 years old) founded by the Puls Medycyny magazine, scientific awards from the Ministry of Health, and many others.
From February 2014 he has been the president of the Polish Mother’s Memorial Hospital in Łódź (PMMH-RI), as well as the Head of the Hypertension Department at the Medical University of Łódź, the Head of the Heart and Vascular Research Center at the University of Zielona Góra, full professor at the Medical University of Łódź and PMMH-RI.
This is the fourth Honoris Causa Doctorate of prof. Maciej Banach. The previous ones were given in 2018 by the Dr. Strazhesko National Research Center – Institute of Cardiology in Kiev, Ukraine and Victor Babes University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Timisoara, Romania. In 2019, prof. Banach was awarded Honoris Causa Doctorate of the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest.
